John Scully, Ph.D.

CEO, CFO, Treasurer and Secretary

John has broad experience in management and staff roles such as corporate controller, director of finance, auditor and educator.  He is an officer and Ecliptic co-founder.  

As CEO, he is responsible for Ecliptic's financial results and leads the firm's strategic planning and annual planning and budgeting processes.  He also gets involved with partnering activities and helps shape the firm's annual R&D prioritizations.

As CFO, John is responsible for managing all Ecliptic financial reporting requirements, corporate insurance and HR matters and coordination with our independent public accountants.  Ernst & Young has audited the company's financial statements each year since 2005.

John has extensive accounting experience in high-technology, engineering services and consulting firms, large and small.  Before Ecliptic, he was Director of Finance at BlastOff! Corporation (a start-up space-mission firm), Corporate and Regional Controller at Aon Consulting (a $650M international employee benefits and human resources consulting organization), Regional and Group Controller at Weston (a $350M engineering and consulting company), and Auditor at DuPont.  He has extensive experience with corporate information systems, project tracking systems, auditing and human resources.

John has published several book reviews in the Journal of Accountancy and Internal Auditor and has taught graduate and undergraduate finance, accounting and ethics classes at several major universities.  Currently he is teaching finance classes for Pepperdine University's Executive MBA Program.
